Ministry Philosophy
In broad terms, the Kingdom of God refers to the reign, rule and sovereignty of God, and not to the realm in which it is exercised. Our philosophy, as Servants of the Kingdom of God, is to minister as extensions of Jesus Christ by bringing the diverse blessings of the Kingdom to those in need, according to the principle of John 5:19:
Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.”
Jesus understood that he could not meet all of the material and spiritual needs he encountered during his ministry, for poverty was widespread in Palestine during the first century. He relied upon divine guidance, seeking His Father’s will at all times so that He was in complete harmony with Him in word and deed. Just as Jesus was dependent upon His Father for all that He did, we as His servants are likewise dependent upon the Him (through the Holy Spirit’s guidance) to direct our ministry according to His sovereign will.
Because the preponderance of our work is in developing countries
where needs in general are widespread and self-perpetuating,
without
specific directives from the Holy Spirit we could easily be
overwhelmed and distracted by the sea of needs that exist, missing
those specific areas of ministry where Christ’ desires to bring
change and restoration.
We live in a world with malevolent spiritual forces that exist to keep people impoverished and distanced from God. This evil kingdom is poised to dilute our effectiveness as servants, strategizing to guide and maneuver us into work that will be something other than God’s perfect will for us, if we are not intentional in all we do. Therefore, we are completely and absolutely dependent upon the specific guidance of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit’s revelation and directives for all we do as Servants of the Kingdom.
